Half a million people in the UK practise mindfulness, yoga and meditation, with a 25% year on year increase – among them Sting, Ryan Giggs, Madonna, Jon Bon Jovi, Adam Levine and Mick Jagger!
It is taught in many schools across the country both as part of the curriculum and as an after school activity funded by The National Lottery. Mindfulness has particularly seen a huge growth in recent years as the research in the field has proved without a doubt that mindfulness increases well being.
This website attempts to bring together Mindfulness practitioners, Yoga Teachers, Teens and Secondary School PE teachers with all the latest research and the best training opportunities in this field. There is also an opportunity to buy products you may need to help your teaching.

How TeenYoga Came About
Teenyoga is born out of Universal Yoga. Charlotta Martinus is the founder of both companies and has been teaching teens for over 20 years and yoga since 2004. With two teen sons keen on yoga, she noticed quickly how yoga helped her sons achieve a greater sense of well being, perform better at school and release anxiety.
Having experienced the Swedish School system herself, she wanted to share this perspective of non-competitive attitude and greater self-care as part of children’s education. If taught correctly, Yoga and mindfulness fit these precepts perfectly. She soon realised there was no training in this field at all and that many yoga teachers found the thought of approaching the 13-16 age groups quite daunting. After many years of research and experience, Charlotta came together with colleague Sarah Bourne and then psychologists, neuroscientists and anatomists, to produce the thorough manual (soon to be published) and training programme for Yoga for Teens. The training is now run in London and the South West, looking to expand in other parts of the UK.

This is a life changing course…if you have any interest in helping the youth of today become balanced adults of tomorrow do this course!!!!! DC Samantha Hare (May 2011)
This course is a treasure trove of information about teaching yoga to teenagers. It gives you in depth theoretical knowledge into adolesant psychology and the benefits of yoga practise combined with inspiring practical examples of how to bring yoga to teens. I came away from the course overflowing with inspiration and with the confidence to take yoga into schools. (May 2011)
I learnt so much on the course. I’m constantly referring back to the manual that accompanied the workshop. With all the different aspects that are covered, I felt enabled to take my teenage yoga classes to innovative and adventurous levels while remaining grounded. I noticed the diversity in my classes immediately following the training. I was calmer and the teens seem relaxed with new and fresh down-to-earth methods of teaching.
There is so much more to teaching teenagers than perhaps I had allowed and I believe that they deserve a teacher that has looked into what their particular needs are, what their daily pressures are and what their physical and mental developmental challenges are. The course takes an in-depth look at the mind, the physiology and the emotional state of young adults in today’s modern world. It places that in a yoga context and allows us, for a brief time, to be students ourselves; so we are better equipped to lead interesting and intriguing yoga classes that will empower these brilliant young souls to manage their lives, cope with exam stress and experience an enhanced sense of their own true nature.
